Cumbus (Frederick P.) scrapbook, circa 1918-1978.

Materials in this collection relate to Fred Cumbus' tour of duty in World War I and his career at the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The collection contains photographs documenting his World War I experiences, newspaper articles written by Cumbus, and other records and photographs that document his journalistic career.

Frederick P. Cumbus was born in Alabama in 1895. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1917 and served in Europe during World War I. He moved to New Orleans in 1921 and worked in several positions for the New Orleans Times-Picayune before retiring in 1964. Cumbus died on March 23, 1978.
